Portrait of a Man
62 x 47 cm (without frame)
Oil on canvas
The identity of this slightly bald man, with a goatee beard and a moustache, set against a very dark background is a mystery. He is depicted at bust length, wearing a white collar, looking away from the viewer. His aristocratic bearing and refined execution are reminiscent of the Flemish portrait painter Anthony Van Dyck (1591- 1641).
