Description
In Greek mythology the owl was often associated with the goddess Athena and therefore it was a symbol of wisdom and the arts. The Romans, in addition to this, also considered owls to be funerary birds, due to their nocturnal activity and to the fact that their nests are often in inaccessible places. These two different meanings are still widespread even nowadays, as many cultures around the world still consider this bird to be either a symbol of wisdom or of bad luck.
